Have we talked about cozy horror? I think so. Cackle is the epitome of cozy horror. It feels like befriending Morticia Addams and being super confused about all of the macabre stuff she does.... then embracing it and joining in. I had fun reading this one for cozy spooky season.

Reliquary is a slow vibes, haunting and unsettling book.
The horror elements play with claustrophobia, deep sea, and the wealthy elite. I was absolutely hooked. (pun intended)

🍂⛅The Day:
I woke up early to go frolic in the town park today.
I took my book and a coffee to exist in the breeze.
The squirrels were busy making noise in the leaf covered grass. I joined them.
The deer were awake and curious. We watched each other.
The sun was giving us a full show through the sparkling yellow trees. My heart is full.

Our Cut of Salt is the kind of horror book that tells the evil of humanity through generations and how trauma leaves lasting ghostly energies. It's an important voice. It's a dark heavy story. I encourage you to read it.

(This title is tagged as a horror book, but this is not the paranormal book you might expect)

For our fall vacation, we did the ultimate Halloween and book lover trip to Sleepy Hollow! We were totally smitten by our tour of Washington Irving's Sunnyside estate where we learned what an amazing human he was. We had sooooo much delicious food, saw absolutely gorgeous fall leaves, wrapped ourselves in all things Halloween down the streets of the adorable village, took a night time lantern lit tour through the giant cemetery, visited the cemetery again in the day time to find the headless horseman bridge, immersed ourselves in the twilight village, and so much more.

The Pumpkin Bride was the perfect book to get me in the cozy fall mood. It's a silly sweet romance made for fans of Shrek and The Princess Bride. Truly. It has a little bit of everything autumnal plus cozy fantasy stakes.

I took it with me to The Buffalo Zoo's Enchanted Pumpkin Trail and immediately felt immersed in October goodness.

Last week, I had the opportunity to hang out with a dear friend and my mom in Medina, Ohio. We had such a fun night sharing stories while celebrating Jeneva Rose's new book "Sometiems I Scare Myself" plus getting to meet Jeneva herself! She is hilarious and very kind in person. She took the time to really interact with each fan in line and freely gave out hugs. The themed drinks for the event were a huge perk to my extra self. I got the "Sometimes I Spice Myself" pumpkin root b**r, it was amazing.

We also enjoyed so much delicious food and shopping around the adorable little city, including the always beautiful Black Cat Books & Oddities (who hosted the book event.) If you're ever looking for a cute little easy getaway, Medina's your place.
