Genres first First Friday!! 🥳 So fun!

I had a really nice time talking books with the community on Main St. The Blind Dates were a big hit, but so were the regular books! Lots of readers out there & I love that. 😊 BIG thanks to Britt from Blue June Blooms for offering me the space to set up in front of her shop. We had a great night!

SEE YOU ON MAIN STREET!! 🚦🚧📚🎉🤩

Yes, that's right, Genres will have a table up during First Friday! I'm very excited to see some familiar Westfield faces & I hope to introduce some new people to Genres as well. Can't wait to mingle & chat! If you're planning on attending, be sure to bring a tote bag for any spontaneous book purchases! 😄

FYI, Genres is open today until 5pm, Friday from 11am to 3pm (closing two hours earlier for First Friday prep!) & Saturday from 9am - 3pm. Hope to see you - in the shop or the street! 👌

Taylor Jenkins Reid. Emily Henry. Stephen King. Ruth Ware. Dostoevsky. This batch of books has everything! There's a signed, first edition Terry Goodkind (Confessor). A leather bound, Easton Press edition of Death In The Afternoon by Ernest Hemingway. The Crossroads, a brand new 2026 release from popular author C.J. Box. I could go on & on! Have you seen the news stories about AI companies buying thousands of used books, using them to train new AI models & then destroying the books? 😡 Terrible!!!

As a lifelong reader, I believe books are sacred. I take it as a high honor to be the keeper & curator of a shop full of books. And my home library is just as precious to me! If you also lovingly collect books, now more than ever is the time to expand your library. Keep books out of the shredder & in the hands of humans who appreciate them!! 🙏

Genres opens back up tor the week tomorrow at 11am. Stop in to browse, lament about AI, and bring home your next favorite read. See you there!

This one's for you, Dolly!! 🦋✨️💔

Are you mourning the loss of one of the most legendary artists & humanitarians of all time? ME TOO. 🥺 Dolly Parton was truly the best of us, and I adored her. For her talent, first & foremost, but also for her generous spirit & accepting heart. She was an angel!! Because I know that so many people out there are feeling sad like me, and because one of Dolly's biggest passions in life was books, I had to make a display table in her honor. I know she would approve! And as tragic as losing Dolly is, we can keep her spirit alive by listening to her songs, reading books & being kind to one another. 💙

Stop by Genres this week to commiserate about Dolly Parton, buy a book in her honor or just browse at random. The bookstore is a comforting space at any time! 🤗

I like to do a shop tour style video every now & then to show off the shop to anyone who has never been here before. As you can see, Genres is a cozy little spot with thousands- yes, thousands!!! - of books available. Whatever type of reader you are, we're sure to have a book you'd like. So, to both support a small business (in a time when small businesses need patrons more than ever!), and to find your next favorite book...stop by Genres asap! 🤩 I'll be waiting here with a recommendation. 👌😊

I know I just posted a reel with almost 50 new books yesterday, but we got such an AMAZINGGG donation today that I had to immediately post. So yes, there are about a hundred new popular, classic & everything in between titles at the shop right now. ALL the authors you love! Scroll thru & see for yourself! Introducing....THE GENRES BOOKSHOP TRINKET TRADE BOX!!! 🎲🧵♟️🪀🪮🪙✏️🗝

Do you love tiny things? Oddball items? Found treasures?? Then this, my fellow hoarder, is for you. Lol How does the Trinket Trade work? Same concept as a Little Free Library, but with trinkets! Simply pick an item out of the chest & it's yours! Free! And then return an item when you can. Give & take, grab & drop. There are no strict rules or guidelines. This is simply an exercise in whimsy, which the world could certainly use a whole lot more of! ✨️

So, tell your friends (share this post if you'd like! 🙂), gather your trinkets & get to trading! Oh and maybe pick up a book or two while you're at it. 😏
