CLASSIC ROCK CANDY - PART 2 🌈

These beauties have done ridiculously well, so I am keeping All the flavours in stock permanently. And I am expanding the range! 👏

Now available in Gift Jars with a mix of All the delicious flavours 😁

You can choose between the Mini Crystals or the chunky Geodes.
It's like eating gorgeous gemstones 💎

I have also added Hot Drink Stirrers - available in Clear or Amber.
Each stick equals x2 teaspoons of sugar. Perfect for Coffee or Tea ☕🫖

Rock Candy originated in ancient India over a thousand years ago. The Sanskrit word 'khanda' means 'piece of sugar' which evolved into the term Rock Candy. It was considered not only as a luxury, but also medicinal. Used to soothe sore throats and stomach issues, particularly in Ayurvedic medicine. This is a piece of history I can definitely get behind 😉

JAPANESE MOCHI 🇯🇵❤️

Mochi is a type of Japanese dessert, referred to as a 'rice cake'. It is essentially a sweet dumpling, with a soft and chewy texture, much like a firm marshmallow.

It is made from glutinous rice, with a variety of sweet fillings, making it naturally gluten free, as well as vegan 🌱

Mochi are made in a ceremony called 'mochitsuki', and are most commonly eaten around the Japanese New Year.

Traditional varieties include Black Sesame, Peanut, Taro, Durian, Green Tea and Red Bean.

These yummy mouthfuls are made from corn starch and sugar, and are usually served in small cubes dusted in confectioners sugar. While South Africans prefer the classic rose water version, many varieties can be found around the world, including ones filled with dried fruit, nuts and coconut.

Also known as Lokum (Arabic for 'morsel'), this unique sweet confection can be traced back to the late 18th century Ottoman Empire.

Mithai is the term used to describe the many yummy sweet treats that India has to offer 🥰 The most popular types being Soan Papdi (this is what got me hooked!), Mukhwas (after-meal snacks) and the wide range of Laddu (literally translated to small, sweet balls).

Common ingredients include chickpea flour, ghee, jaggery, seeds, cardamom and saffron. Many of these sweet treats are gluten free, vegetarian and\or vegan.

I have very clear memories of walking to the local chemist with my gran and getting treated to a barley sweet, which was almost as good as a marshmallow fish from the 7 Eleven. Those were the days before Sweets from Heaven, and now I am certainly giving my age away 😅

In honour of all the Dad's and Father Figures out there, we are focusing on the perfect Braai and TV Watching snacks that we have on offer 😁
