🐲 TOP 5 PICKS OF THE WEEK 🐲
🔥 1. JEAN GREY #1 — THE PHOENIX RETURNS TO EARTH! Coming out of the events of DNX, Jean Grey is getting a brand-new series, and it looks like things are about to get VERY interesting. The Phoenix Force is burning inside her, and the big question is whether Jean can control that power or if she's about to consume everything around her. A new chapter for Jean Grey and the X-Men begins here, and there are some absolutely beautiful covers to choose from. That ITO variant is the one I'm watching! You know how crazy collectors have been going for Ito covers lately, and I fully expect this one to sell out.
🪚 2. CHAINKATA #1 — THIS ONE HAS SOME SERIOUS HYPE BEHIND IT! I read the ashcan preview and it was AWESOME. That little preview is already selling for a mint, and I can absolutely see why. This is a seriously fun comic! Luma is a chainsaw-wielding warrior queen tearing through space in search of a mysterious power. All she wants is peace, but apparently the universe has other plans. Think Princess Mononoke meets Warhammer 40K, with chainsaws, monsters, violence and absolute chaos. The covers are fantastic too. I'm expecting multiple printings out of this one, and I wouldn't be surprised if it turns into one of the bigger indie hits of the year. Don't sleep on this!
⚔️ 3. INANNA: THE NAME SHE LOST #1 — From Eisner-nominated, New York Times bestselling writer Tim Seeley and writer, director and actress Inanna Sarkis comes a modern reimagining of the ancient Assyrian goddess of love and war. San Francisco is tearing itself apart when a mysterious woman emerges from the bay wearing nothing but a lapis necklace. She remembers almost nothing except her name... and the fact that she's PI**ED. 😂 With incredible strength and charisma, Inanna quickly becomes a champion of the people, but her forgotten past as a goddess is catching up with her. Ancient enemies, modern monsters, mythology and a city on the edge. This sounds like a pretty interesting new #1!
🌿🔪 4. SWAMP THING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN #1 — NOW THIS IS A CROSSOVER I DID NOT SEE COMING! James Tynion IV and Werther Dell'Edera bring Swamp Thing into the world of Something Is Killing the Children for the FIRST-EVER SLAUGHTERVERSE CROSSOVER! In a world where children's fears can become real monsters, two young comic fans discover that the horrors they've been reading about are starting to come to life. Now Erica Slaughter has to hunt down one of the most recognizable monsters in comic-book history... SWAMP THING HIMSELF! Two huge horror properties colliding, with the original SIKTC creative team behind it. This one feels like a no-brainer for horror collectors.
🕷️ 5. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1004 MARK SPEARS VARIANT — I HAVE A REALLY GOOD FEELING ABOUT THIS COVER. Seriously, I think this might be my favorite Mark Spears cover so far, and that's saying something. The artwork is just fantastic, and I think everyone should be grabbing a copy of this one. But it's not JUST about the cover. Ever since Amazing Spider-Man #1000, we've had more people jumping aboard the series than ever, and the story has been great. If you started reading at #1000, KEEP GOING! And if you're collecting Mark Spears covers, this one is an absolute must-have. ALL ABOARD THE SPIDEY TRAIN! 🚂
🔥 HONORABLE MENTIONS 🔥
🕷️ AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1000 ED MCGUINNESS 3RD PRINTING VARIANT — I would NOT pass on later printings of this MASSIVE milestone issue. Third printing already!
😇 AVENGELYNE #2 — Issue #1 was seriously AWESOME. Do NOT pass up on the second issue!
🗺️ CAROLINA KINCADE #1 — Is this supposed to be a play on Indiana Jones? Carolina Kincade? 😂 Either way, another interesting new #1 worth a look.
🌊 EMPEROR AQUAMAN #23 — Those Mark Spears connecting covers are absolutely killer. Great set for collectors!
🌌 EVENT HORIZON: PANDEMONIUM #1 — HEAVEN IS REAL. AND IT'S WORSE THAN HELL. Well, that's one hell of a tagline. If you love sci-fi horror, take a look at this one.
🤡 HELLO DARKNESS #27 — You KNOW I have to mention my favorite horror anthology whenever it's up for order. And have you SEEN that killer clown Cover A?! LOVE IT.
🎅💀 I SAW SPAWN: A TWISTED CHRISTMAS TALE #1 — In case you missed it last week, it's back up for order again! Spawn and twisted Christmas horror. What more do you need?
🚗 LAST DRIVER #1 4TH PRINTING — This series is actually selling for a MINT right now! Already on its fourth printing, so if you missed it, here's another shot.
🍭 POP KILL: BIG CANDY #2 ALEX GARNER VARIANT — Great cover! LIL HOTTIES! 😂
🐷 RAMPANT SWINE #1 — Blood, mud, magic and monsters. What a combination! Another weird indie #1 worth checking out.
🐌 SNAIL (ONE-SHOT) — From the twisted mind of Eisner Award-winning writer GARTH ENNIS comes a disturbing psychedelic tale of lust, greed, power and possession. This one ALMOST made my Top 5. With Garth Ennis involved, you know it's going to get weird.
💀 SPAWN 77 #3 — The final issue of this three-part series! I've really enjoyed this one, and there's no way I'm missing the conclusion.
🕸️ SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #6 — FIRST APPEARANCE OF A NEW VILLAIN CALLED THE SCAVENGER! Definitely worth keeping an eye on.
⚡ SUPERMAN #199 FACSIMILE EDITION — THE FIRST RACE BETWEEN SUPERMAN AND THE FLASH! One of the most iconic superhero rivalries in comic history, now available as a facsimile.
❌ UNCANNY X-MEN #39 MICHELE BANDINI VARIANT — Great Wolverine cover! Sometimes that's all the reason you need.
🩸 VAMPIRE: THE MASQUERADE — WAKE IN HATE #1 — Based on the hit tabletop RPG and the new video game Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2. Definitely one for fans of the franchise.
🖤 VENOM #2 — This one ALMOST made my Top 5! Eddie Brock apparently has a NEW LADY LOVE, but Marvel is teasing that she might actually be a villain in disguise. I LOVE Cover A, especially since it features this mysterious new character. Could be something important hiding in here!
🐆 VICTORIA JAGUAR #1 — The newest chapter in the Underworld Universe, written by Underworld creator Mark London. Another new series to keep an eye on!
🔥 That's our lineup for the week! Between Chainkata, Jean Grey, the massive Swamp Thing crossover, and some really interesting indie , there are plenty of books worth taking a shot on. And seriously, take some time to look through the variants this week because there are some BEAUTIES hiding in there.
We'll have our full FOC video up later today going through everything available, so check that out before placing your order!
