🦇 1. ABSOLUTE BATMAN #24
This is the BIG ONE this week.
Absolute Batman continues to sell like hot cakes, and some of the earlier first-appearance issues are already hitting CRAZY prices. Now issue #24 brings us the FIRST APPEARANCE OF BATGIRL IN THE ABSOLUTE UNIVERSE!
That alone makes this an easy #1 pick.
There are killer covers across the board, but if you’re thinking long-term, Cover A all the way for me. First appearance + main cover is usually where I want my money.
The Absolute Universe has been on fire since day one, and I expect people will be chasing this issue hard.
🩸 2. MIDNIGHT: SPIDER-MAN #1, FANTASTIC FOUR #1 & X-MEN #1
Okay, I’m cheating — our #2 pick is actually THREE books.
These three kick off Marvel’s huge new MIDNIGHT crossover, a full-blown body-horror event that sees Marvel heroes cursed, twisted, and mutated into horrific new forms.
Spider-Man. Fantastic Four. X-Men.
Marvel is pushing this event BIG TIME, and with multiple new launching the story, I would be shocked if there weren’t some important first appearances, transformations, or key issues hiding somewhere in the mix.
There are some Killer covers in the mix including some classic horror movie homages that are must haves!
Perfect timing for Halloween. 🎃
🐱🎲 3. DUNGEON CRAWLER CARL SPECIAL EDITION #0 — 2ND PRINTING
People just CANNOT get enough of Carl and Princess Donut!
I’ve been personally reading Dungeon Crawler Carl and I cannot recommend this property enough. It is fu***ng AWESOME.
The novels are incredible, the Jeff Hays audiobooks are somehow even better, and now we’ve got the story in comic-book form for people like you and me.
The hype around this property is real, and I think we’re still early. Once the live-action adaptation arrives and a much larger audience discovers Carl and Donut, look out.
The first printing is already gone. Now we have the second.
🔥 Grab these while you can. Dungeon Crawler Carl is going to be HOT HOT HOT.
🎭 4. V FOR VENDETTA #1 FACSIMILE EDITION
This is the FIRST-EVER facsimile edition of V for Vendetta #1, and it happens to be one of my ALL-TIME favorite comics.
If you have never read V for Vendetta, FIX THAT.
Set in a dystopian Britain ruled by a fascist regime, a young woman named Evey is rescued by the mysterious masked revolutionary known only as V. What follows is an incredible story about power, freedom, fear, resistance, and the dangerous line between revolutionary and terrorist.
An absolute MUST-READ, and now we finally get the original first issue reproduced in facsimile format.
Easy pickup for me.
⌚ 5. WATCHMEN #1 FACSIMILE EDITION
And speaking of my all-time favorites...
WATCHMEN.
Another FIRST-EVER facsimile, released to celebrate the groundbreaking series’ 40th anniversary.
When a former costumed hero is brutally murdered, an investigation begins uncovering a conspiracy that could involve the world’s remaining superheroes — and potentially the fate of the entire planet.
Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons took the superhero genre apart piece by piece, examining what these people would actually be like, why they would put on costumes, and what happens when incredibly flawed human beings are given enormous power.
There’s a reason people are still talking about Watchmen forty years later.
If you’ve somehow never read it, you need to.
If you already love it, this first-issue facsimile belongs in the collection.
