Here is more on the Double M amp from yesterday. 2 new channels, BJA/Dookie and a JTM. 40W from a pair of EL34's. Efx loop. Channel switcher. The Rooster was the first of my BJA/Dookie offerings and it is a really great circuit. Marshall has an EXPENSIVE BJA amp out right now and my core circuit is the same but is FAR MORE VERSATILE. I will put a few youtube links in the comment section. This was a custom build and is world-class.

A NEW ONE. The ROOSTER. I was asked about doing a Dookie/BJA modded Marshall circuit, and lo and behold it was not THAT far from my J+ circuit in the Double M. Coincidentally, Tim Pierce just had a video on the "The Most Important Amp in Rock N Roll" - though he has changed the title. I also see my bud Ben Eller just did a video on the new Marshall Dookie/BJA. If you are unfamiliar check out those videos on youtube, but to me it is the tone of "When I Come Around" from Dookie.
So I just finished up this Rooster, which is the Dookie/Bradshaw mod. But with a couple tweaks.
24W from a pair of EL34's
The dual gain of the Rooster offers much more variation than the "Pete" amp - more tonal variation, and better cleans. The Dookie mod has 3 caps around the gain pot, and treble response varies wildly depending on the pot position. With the second between stages 2 and 3, you can tweak BOTH treble response and overall gain.
The original "Pete" amp uses a .68uf presence cap. which is REALLY just takes out the negative feedback. The Presence+Depth on the Rooster just offers better tonal variation than the .68uf Presence on the Pete.

Double M - this is the second, this one a bit different from the Plextortion. JCM channel has more gain than the JCM800/2203 circuit, and funny enough, the tweaked JCM is close to the Friedman JEL (Jake E Lee). Didn't plan it that way.
This one is a channel switcher, and has a loop!
40W from a pair of EL34's.
Plexi mode is same as the Plextortion, I doubt I will ever change it (both I and II are in parallel, BETTER than jumpering).

Plextortion - this is the first of the Double M style amp and is a custom build.
-24W from a pair of EL34's (runs at EVH B+ voltage)
-There is boost gain stage (similar to what Friedman does)
-The boost can in front of either the JCM or Plexi setting, and selected via a 4 position rotary switch.

-1 is Plexi
-2 is JCM
-3 is boosted Plexi
-4 is boosted JCM

No loop on the Plextortion, but the next Double M amp has one and you will see it soon.

All 4 settings are great, but my fav was #1. I GET IT NOW. #1 setting has both I and II in parallel (like Eric Johnson), and is superior to the common jumpering of I and II.
The I 4700pf bright cap makes I and II QUITE different and blending them offers a nice palette of tone.
And a Parallel Plexi with a JCM-type master volume makes it SO much more useful.
