LEE SANDALES & RUT VILLAMANGA 🎬
Another fascinating panel discussion at Thank The Maker featured Lee Sandales, Set Decorator, and Rut Villamanga, Hand Props and Weapons Painter, who both worked on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016)
Lee played an important role in creating the film’s environments, helping bring the director’s vision to life through the sets, furnishings and carefully chosen details that made the Star Wars universe feel so authentic.
Rut’s work involved the hand props and weapons, helping to create and finish the items that the characters used on screen.
From the weapons carried by the Rebel Alliance and Imperial forces to the many smaller details that make the galaxy far, far away so believable, this work is an essential part of the filmmaking process.
Panels like these are a brilliant opportunity to learn about the incredible craftsmanship and teamwork that goes into making a Star Wars film.
So much work happens behind the scenes, often without the audience realising just how many talented people are involved!
It was great to hear from two more members of the Rogue One production team and gain a better appreciation of their contributions to the film. 🚀
