Good morning you lot ! I hope your all managing to stay cool or if you’re a sun lover you managing to get some time to enjoy it 😎 not me.. I’m one those.. indoors having a good moan about how hot it is 😅

Check out these beautiful Long Tailed Lizards we have available in store. These are super easy to keep, active and have very impressive tails which can be as much as three times long than their body.. 😱

More Praying Mantis have arrived !

That’s right another invert delivery has landed with us today containing the much loved Orchid Mantis and another firm favourite the wandering Violin !

🌿🌱 New Vivarium Plants 🌱🌿

We’ve just received a delivery of vivarium plants from a new supplier that does some slightly larger and different plant species. There’s some superb stuff just arrived which would give real instant impact in larger planted Vivariums. Either that or they’d make great house plants.. I’m eyeing up a few 😆

It’s the Week of unusual Tetras here at Ely Exotics !

We pride ourselves in keeping a diverse range of species in store. Just by happy coincidence this week we have 5 beautiful species of Tetra arriving you rarely see in shops and all of which add not only a touch of rarity but superb colour to your tanks.

But what are they.. 🤔

Coral Red Pencilfish - Nannostomus mortenthaleri (pictured)

Purple Pencilfish - Nannostomus rubrocaudatus

Tucano Tetra - Tucanichthys tucano

Inferno Tetra - Hyphessobrycon sp. Infernalis

Blueberry Tetra - Hyphessobrycon wadai

The top 3 species have already arrived last night and the other 2 land with us later today 😍 keep an eye on our stories for more pictures 🐠

Good Morning all ! The start of a brand new week and we have loads to look forward to this week 😎

Two invert shipments are on the way, lots more new spiders, mantis plus a nice colourful species of Millipede that’s a great starter species 🙂

Two fish deliveries also inbound, a new variety of Angelfish I’m excited to see, a rare species of eel and if you’re a fan of very rare tetras.. we have 5 species you seldom see in most stores so watch out for those 😍

While we wait for these check out this stunning Black and White Californian Kingsnake we have in stock.. 🐍

Two spider deliveries have landed this morning one of our favourite things to unbox 😍 some superb species here many we’ve either never offered before or not had for a while including the much sought after Brazilian Jewel ! 4 have arrived 3 have already been spoken for just from me mentioning we have them coming so the remaining one I doubt will hang around !

We had this lovely lady brought into us this morning for rehoming. A real treat to see and have a play with such an amazing creature.

Last week we took a call asking if we could take an Asian Water Monitor, She’s 11 years old and always lived with her sister.. until this year when they really fell out, likely because both laid a clutch of eggs. Sadly (and I desperately wanted to keep her 😆) we don’t have the space at the shop at the moment to give her the space she needs but I wanted to help find her somewhere to go. Working together with we have made arrangements for her to head down to for her to be assessed and then rehomed.

A good news story today, even if I am sulking slightly we couldn’t keep her.. 😂 we NEED a bigger shop !!

Good morning you lot another Bank Holiday Monday today and the start of the half term week !

We are open today at the slightly different time of 10am - 4pm 🥳

Fresh livefoods will be in this morning to start the week off right. Did you know we have 2 to 3 deliveries a week to ensure the freshest bugs possible. That said with temperatures increasing it’s important to keep your livefood hydrated to aid longevity. Our livefood carepacks are there to help and also part of our Multibuy offer, ask in store for more information.

Have you ever heard of the stunningly beautiful Golden Wonder Panchax - Aplocheilus lineatus ? With its elegant stripes and bright yellow colors, this freshwater fish is sure to make a statement in any aquarium. Not only is this Panchax a sight to behold, but it also has a peaceful temperament with all but the smallest of community fish and is very easy to keep. So why not add a pop of color to your aquarium with this stunning species. They occupy the top level too preferring to sit just under the water surface waiting for food to land where it’s quickly relished !

Good morning all, mid week already !

A second fish delivery is due for arrival later today we have some new male Betta including a green alien, Kissing Gouramis and South American Pufferfish 🐡

We are due a spider delivery at some point too although not sure which day yet, likely tomorrow. Some species there we don’t often get so will update when I know more 🙂

We are pleased to offer 3 species of Bamboo Rat Snakes;

Chinese bamboo -Oreocryptophis porphyraceus vaillanti

Thailand bamboo-Oreocryptophis porphyraceus coxi

Broadbanded bamboo-Oreocryptophis porphyraceus laticinctus

You don’t often see these unusual colubrids available so this is a great opportunity to grab a very different species !
