There is nothing more therapeutic than putting together Fat Quarter bundles!! Choosing the colours, cutting and folding and tying them with love and a bow (and pretty grosgrain ribbon).

Beautiful beach weaving pieces made in yesterday’s workshop with Jackie Bennett | Textile Artist and Tutor . The textures and colours are absolutely lovely!

Jackie has other weaving workshops coming up here in September, with a full day course on Saturday 5th and circular weaving on Thursday 10th September. Spaces available for both. Bookings can be made via our website, over the phone or in store.

We have a new Sashiko range in the shop!!

Our little capsule collection includes templates, threads, sashiko needles and a 100% cotton fabric panel with project instructions included to make a Sashiko cushion cover. Plus we have one Colourful Sashiko Search Press Books book left in stock too.

Well what an exciting (and exhausting) month August was!
There was a lot of hot, sweaty and dusty removal of furniture and old stands, plus drilling and building new display areas and tables. We now have our beautiful workshop studio space and have so far held three workshops, a stitchers’ social event and a weaving demonstration in there!

The shop continues to have new stock added in, more fabrics arrived, new yarns, new gift ideas, autumn kit ranges… and there have been several supplier meetings with orders placed for the coming months.

We also revamped the newsletter!! And sent out a test, and our first proper, newsletter which gives updates on what’s happening, workshop dates, new products, community projects… It goes out every two weeks on a Friday so do sign up if you’re interested! Just scroll to the bottom of our web page to enter your details and make sure you don’t miss a thing!

Check this fabric out! Isn’t it gorgeous? Like leafy flames or painted metal shining in the sunshine.

We’ve had three new viscose satin prints in this week and they are glorious!

(We’ve also had linen look cotton, hessian, cotton sheeting, blackout curtain lining, dress net…)

The viscose satin feels almost like silk, it’s cool to the touch, fairly lightweight (but not see-through) and would make wonderful blouses or skirts, maybe some flowy wide leg trousers? Swipe to see the close ups, and the second design we’ve brought in as well.

Bonfire societies! We have had our annual delivery of the Fire Check flame retardant spray!

This is a really good fire retardant but you will need to allow time for your garment to be liberally sprayed and dried so it’s not an overnight job. As the bonfire & carnival season starts in Uckfield on the 5th September, there’s not long to go! 🔥🧨🎇

We are not able to send this in the post so it can only be purchased in our shop.

Thank you to Melissa of for bringing her calming blend of mindful stitching, peaceful fabric piecing and calming conversation to yesterday’s Stitched Vessels workshop.

These are double sided little fabric pots made with the smallest of scraps and two beautiful vessels were started with the ladies just piecing the second sides together by the end of the workshop. They then had enough pieces squirrelled inside their pots to take home and finish off.

What a brilliant way to spend a morning!!
