It’s been quite a surreal day.
Today we’re featured in not one, but two local newspapers!
The Suffolk Free Press has us on its front page, with a full-page feature inside, while the East Anglian Daily Times has also published a full-page article.
It’s all thanks to our 2-star Great Taste Award for our Ginger, Turmeric & Black Pepper Honey - a product we’ve spent months perfecting and are incredibly proud of.
It all started with a single hive. We never imagined our honey would one day be recognised like this. Thank you to everyone who’s supported our little business along the way - whether you’ve stocked our honey, bought a jar, visited us at a market, or simply cheered us on. We really do appreciate it.

We’ve won TWO Great Taste stars! ⭐⭐
We are absolutely thrilled that our Ginger, Turmeric & Black Pepper Honey has been awarded two stars in the Great Taste Awards 2026.
The judges described it as “bright sunshine golden honey”, “wonderfully vibrant” and “incredibly moreish” and even admitted that they had to hold back from tasting the whole jar.
One judge, who does not generally like honey, was completely converted (we're particularly proud of that bit!).
Made with our raw Suffolk soft-set honey, freshly grated ginger, turmeric root and a warming kick of cracked black pepper, it is golden, zingy, gently fiery and apparently rather difficult to put down.
Delicious spooned over yoghurt and fruit, stirred into hot milk for a pick-me-up drink or eaten directly from the jar when nobody is looking.
A huge thank you to the Great Taste judges. We're over the moon.

Just when you thought we couldn’t top our Ginger, Turmeric and Black Pepper honey....
..introducing our Mixed Nuts with Honey – a delicious blend of whole Almonds, Walnuts, Cashews, Pecans, Brazil nuts and Pistachios, all recklessly drowned in our raw Suffolk honey. 🍯 🐿️

Incredibly moreish, it’s as glorious with savoury foods as it is with sweet. Slather it onto a wedge of Italian blue cheese or pair with slices of crisp British apples and oatcakes. For a real treat, shovel it liberally over ice cream and wonder how you ever had ice cream without it.

As the nights draw in and cold and flu season begins to roll around, we're thrilled to introduce our newest creation: Number Eighteen Ginger, Turmeric & Black Pepper Honey - a delicious infusion crafted to help support your natural defences this winter.

This potent blend combines freshly grated roots with our pure Suffolk honey to create a deliciously warming, functional treat:

This honour celebrates businesses that go the extra mile to showcase the very best of their local area - and we’re beyond proud to be recognised for doing just that with our Suffolk honeys.
From wildflower meadows to the orchards and organic farms around us, every jar we produce is a genuine taste of place. To be named one of just 25 small-scale producers across the UK is something truly special.

It’s not the clearest photo - but it’s one of our favourites. Yesterday evening, a barn owl quietly perched on one of our hives, watching over the meadow as dusk settled in, waiting for field mice to scurry around underneath. A proper magical sight! 🦉

Our hives at Number 18 are nestled in wildflower meadows buzzing with life - not just bees, but butterflies, birds, deer, badgers and sometimes unexpected visitors like this one. It’s nature at its own pace, and we feel lucky to witness it every day.

Moments like this remind us why we do what we do.

We had huge fun today at the Velvet Suffolk Food & Drink Awards as finalists for the Best Suffolk Food Producer of the Year! 🏆
Thank you so much to for organising it, it was great to catch up with our friends (who won the award for Food and Drink Heroes 👏) and to meet our co-finalists for the award (who we’ve kept trying to meet up with at the markets we sell at but kept failing) and .
Congratulations to Hill Farm for taking the award home - we’ll fight you for it next year! 😉
Well done to the winners of all the different categories - it really does showcase how amazing Suffolk Food and Drink talent is.
Shout-out to one of the judges with whom we had such a fun chat about bees, bats and Tales of the Unexpected!

We’ll be swapping beesuits for glad-rags on June 9th as we can finally reveal that Number Eighteen Honey is a finalist for the “Producer of the Year” award in this year’s Suffolk Food & Drink Awards 2025!

We’ll be heading to the awards evening to celebrate with all of the other incredibly-skilled food and drink businesses that our local region has to offer - truly an amazing recognition of just how vibrant the Suffolk food and drink scene really is.

We’re up against some really strong competition, but regardless of how we do it’s a wonderful acknowledgment of all our hard work and we’re very much over the moon to be there. Thank you to the judges and to everyone that nominated us!
