The Summer Sales Challenge has started! πŸ–οΈπŸ€©

Last year, hundreds of you achieved our Summer Sales Challenge, including Leader Katie Purcell (The Reading Railway - in partnership with Usborne), who achieved the top level. πŸ™Œ

We asked Katie for her top tips and why she was so keen to achieve the Summer Sales Challenge. Here’s what she said:

β€œI wanted the Summer Sales Challenge to give me focus and consistency over a traditionally busy but quite unpredictable period. It made me think about where sales would come from and what I could use to ensure I got there. My top tip is to plan as this is unlikely to happen by accident. Sitting down and working out what you have booked in and can achieve is vital. There are lots of different ways to achieve it that can be tweaked to how you want to run your business. Don't be afraid to be in that bit outside your comfort zone that stretches you – that's where the magic happens!

When it first came out I thought it was a huge challenge, and I didn't have the confidence I would get there if I'm honest. But once June was under my belt my confidence grew and by August, I wasn't going to miss out! I'll confess, I was very proud of myself for achieving it – and it helped me get more books into children's hands over the summer, which is a win in my book!” πŸ’›

Set your sights on the Summer Sales Challenge and take your bookselling skills to the next level. Find out what you need to achieve in our blog here… πŸ‘€https://usborne.com/gb/customer/partner/blog/post/here-comes-the-summer-sales-challenge-for-2026

β˜€οΈ Well done to Independent Usborne Partner Sarah Thompson (Sarah's Stories) for showcasing a wonderful stall at the sunny Young Farmers County Show!

A number of children, parents and grandparents were drawn to the books on display and offered fantastic and age appropriate suggestions by Sarah 🌟

The yellow ducks dotted around the stall could not have been more perfect for the farmers show and resulted in the perfect mix of Usborne Books and farm life πŸ¦† Congrats Sarah on your successful day!

⭐ Congratulations to Independent Usborne Partner Karen Harwood (Havens Bookshelf ) who fundraised with local businesses and donated an incredible £1792 in books to Bexley Women's Aid.

Here's what Bexley Women's Aid had to say about this amazing donation:

"Your generous support and commitment has provided books for children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse. Your contributions make a profound difference: every book purchased becomes a tool for hearing, confidence-building, and emotional understanding. Stories help young people feel seen; books on emotions, mental health, self-care, and growing up are especially powerful, offering guidance, reassurance, and a sense of safety at moments when they need it most. Because of you, these young readers gain access not only to knowledge but also to hope, comfort, and the chance to imagine a future shaped by possibility and new bright horizons."

Well done to Karen and everyone who donated for making this donation to such an important cause possible πŸ’›

✨ The lovely Team Leader Lizzie Sharp (Happily Reading) recently hosted the author Ravena Guron at St Helen's and St Katharine's.

It was an insightful visit by Ravena as she shared what it takes to write and have published a thriller story, as well as what inspires her books such as Your Murder Next. This prompted great questions by the school pupils and high praise from the school librarian who shared that:

''Year 10 students can be a tough crowd but Ravena's talk was so relevant to them. It was so good for the girls to see a hardworking, quietly self-assured young female author who is beginning to reap the rewards for the effort she has put in.'' 🌟

Well done Lizzie on organising such a wonderful author visit that has inspired a love of reading and writing in the next generation πŸ‘
