We are currently clocking in between hours 5 - 6 on Pickled Corn Relish 🌽 and we have reached the half way mark.
Blanche - 2nd round of removing corn silk. Who doesn't love the feeling of wet corn hair 🙄 lol
I wanted to share this process of what it takes to bring these tasty items to the market.
We have had some shoppers make comments about the pricing of our items and I get it. I truly do. Let's take a look at the process of food...
Our amazing farmers here in Boone & Story County purchase seeds, plant, love, nuture, cry at the lack of weather, nuture more, cry at the abundance of weather, staffing, harvesting, social media, bringing to markets and man hours at farm shops. And let's not forget the outrageous land property tax in Iowa 🙄 geesh! I know there is so much I am leaving out.
We go to the farms, purchase, smile the whole drive home, prep, cook, slice & dice prep some more, cook final product, jar, can, state required testing, label, social media, bring to market, insist EVERYONE sample 😉. Sprinkle in there all the insurances, fuel costs, market costs, gallons of coffee, etc....
We, all of us, do it out of love ❤️
So when you see that beautiful jar of homemade goodies winking at you, just know how many spectacular people before you gave so much love and dedication to be able to bring you ❤️
