Since 2018, we've been preserving music history, curating vinyl treasures, and building community through sound.

We’ve been so busy making moves behind the scenes that we haven’t had time to film new content… so here’s a throwback to the day a bear visited the New Southern Hotel.

Yes, it’s stuffed.
Yes, we were still slightly concerned.

Honestly, he fit right in. 🐻💀📀

Downtown Jackson stays weird in the best way. Between vintage records, strange curiosities, old hotel ghosts, and surprise bear sightings… you never really know what you’ll walk into at Third Eye.

Come dig around awhile.

Everybody rushes to the expensive wall.

Meanwhile the bargain zone is hiding absolute gold.

This week’s weird finds:
• obscure jazz
• forgotten outlaw country
• strange 70s psychedelic records
• old crooner records with insane cover art

Fun fact: some of the rarest records ever discovered were originally thrift store and bargain bin finds.

What’s the best cheap record YOU ever found?

Record roulette but this one might actually start fights.

One of these albums shaped your personality.
The other one emotionally destroyed you.

Which one survives?

Be honest…

Is this the greatest album of the 90s?

Or just the most important?

Nirvana — In Utero
30th Anniversary Edition.

No dramatic caption.
No algorithm bait.

Just one of those records that still feels dangerous when you hold it.

Fun fact: Steve Albini intentionally recorded In Utero to sound raw, abrasive, and uncomfortable because Kurt Cobain wanted the exact opposite of a polished “Nevermind 2.”

And somehow that’s exactly why people still obsess over it.

Today we randomly received a package from Old Magic Records filled with records from bands we’d never heard before.

No warning. No explanation. Just pure underground chaos mailed straight to the shop from Texas.

Inside was a bunch of fuzzed-out psych, doom, desert weirdness, and independent heavy rock that honestly reminded us why record stores still matter.

You can tell when people are making music because they HAVE to.
Not because an algorithm told them to.

Fun fact: a lot of the original desert rock and doom scenes in the ‘90s spread through tape trading, tiny indie labels, and word-of-mouth long before streaming algorithms existed. Entire underground scenes survived purely because people cared enough to share them.

Big respect to Old Magic Records for keeping that spirit alive.
