JANM is proud to launch the Descendants Camp Hoodie, part of a new line of heritage-driven streetwear created by artist Glenn Mitsui to spark conversations about a history too often left untold.

Honoring the over 120,000 Japanese Americans unjustly incarcerated during WWII, this debut hoodie features emblems representing the ten largest concentration camps, each one marked by the distinct design of that camp's guard tower, printed with incredible precision and detail.

The hoodie is already turning heads. Staff and guests who've seen it in person can't stop talking about it, and it's easy to see why. The craftsmanship is stunning, and the design is as striking as it is meaningful.

JANM's COO Kenyon Mayeda unboxed the very first Descendants Camp Hoodies to arrive at the JANM Store, and see the design come to life as volunteer Nathalie models all ten guard tower emblems, one for each camp, one for every story we carry forward.

Introducing the new Courtyard Kaeru Key Tag! We want to remind people about the double (or triple) meaning of the word "Kaeru" in Japanese. To return or go home. It is often used as a travel talisman in Japan for a safe journey and return. It's also the Children's Courtyard Mascot and symbol so all will know they can return to their JANM Community. It also means to transform; the Museum is undergoing renovations and we are ramping up our Kaeru presence so all will return for the grand reopening! Reopening date announcement TBA!!! Stay tuned. Lastly I want to plug the wonderful annual tradition of Natsumatsuri held this year at the Terasaki Budokan. Free event from 11 am to 3pm!!
