The Gravestone Girls create decorative artwork using the beautiful and primitive images carved on New England gravestones; give lectures on cemetery art, history and symbolism as well as teach gravestone rubbing classes! Our work aims to entertain and educate on the historical perspective of old cemeteries by documenting and preserving the beautiful art they contain.

You want monuments? We got monuments. Heading home from Budapest tomorrow and will work on posting the gravestones & monuments found at Kerepesi cemetery. It's been so many wonderful days of walking, looking, driving and exploring a small portion of this amazing country. There are hundreds of photos to share. For now behold the wonderous works at the Cintadel in Buda which told the story of triumph over oppression in Hungary for a thousand years. Yeah, I cried.

Felt like I walked into a horror movie today while visiting the labyrinth in Buda today. Long, dark, wet corridors that turned and turned sometimes into nothing and sometimes into what seems like crypts or other complete weirdness. It was a bit hokey, but I was surprised they let us roam so far underground thru these old quarry excavation tunnels. I believe the fog I encountered was natural due to temps and humidity. It came out of nowhere. Nice touch with the creepy music and other psycho, oversized wax creatures & vignettes. I was always waiting for something/one to jump out at me and make me bring the rocks down with my screams.

I've wanted to see Budapest for many, many years. She has been right here waiting for me all this time. Travel/international travel can be challenging, but if you hang on like a bull rider, you'll get there. First full day of exploration begins early tomorrow 💜
