Roxbury History, 1968 Warren and Zeigler. This was less than a decade before we were established in 1977.

There was over 160 merchants in the triangle and the streets were packed for decades. The merchants were under the Roxbury Chamber of Commerce which then became the Dudley Square Merchants Association that welcomed Dudley Square Main Streets as a “program” introduced by Mayor Menino in the late 1990s. It then became Dudley Square Main Streets to what it is today aka Roxbury Main Streets.

2026, a half century later shows the triangle to be mostly nonprofit organizations. We have witnessed so many buildings with six-alarm fires and sadly today less than a handful of the original mom & pops are left.
