A case of panleukopenia is devastating to any rescue. Your thoughts and any form of support are especially appreciated at this time.
As you may know all donations made to this thrift store and the money raised from the sale of those items goes towards HOPE for Brevard's mission. We can also be used as a drop off point for cat food and other supplies. HOPE will be updating their Wishlist later today with their greatest needs during the quarantine.
Panleukopenia cases have spiked in Florida this year; please spay, neuter, and vaccinate the animals in your care.
We have made the difficult decision to close the adoption center for the next two weeks for a quarantine period.
Late last night we had one cat from the adoption center test positive for panleukopenia. Using an excess of caution we have decided to quarantine all the cats in the building and temporarily close intake and hold adoptions. We are one of many rescues nationwide that are fighting this virus - it is a risk we all take when taking in cats from peoples homes , strays - and other shelters.
Vaccinated cats are more protected then unvaccinated cats and all the cat's in the adoption center have age appropriate vaccines. Any cats and kittens that have been adopted from us are also up to date on age appropriate vaccinations. We have reached out to anybody who has taken a cat home since this test was positive - but if you have a concern about a HOPE cat please call the hotline at 321-271-4041 and we will call you back to speak to you.
Our volunteers are using an updated protocol to safely take care of the cats in our care and we are continuing to monitor all the animals on an hourly basis.
This is a devastating hit to our rescue.
Our adoptions are paused , the cats we had planned to take in are unable to come into rescue, and the cost of this quarantine will continue to climb. We need your help.
We will always fight for every HOPE cat and are all hands on deck to fight for them together. We ask for your positive thoughts , support and patience during this trying time.
