Points to ponder, without regrets.

As the day’s of rest a few and far between and Jul Season #29 is approaching swiftly, I find these are important to share and very timely.

Coffee became a social norm by my godfather, Maynard and fika is a huge part of my life for over six decades.

Down time, hobbies and fresh air is critical to a healthy lifestyle.

So, here is to a work week ahead and the final daze of Mid-Term mudslinging. Fetch your protective eyewear, a clean facecloth, go to your town hall this week or show up on Tuesdee!

Some of Europe’s most digital classrooms are bringing back books, pens and paper after years of tablets and laptops.

Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland are among the world’s most connected countries, but their schools are rethinking how much screen time belongs in class. The shift does not mean technology is being thrown out. It means officials and educators are asking whether screens should support learning instead of becoming the default.

Sweden has moved to reintroduce printed textbooks and reduce phone use in classrooms. Denmark is investing again in physical books after years of digital learning. Finland has tightened rules around phones and tablets in lessons. Norway has also moved to limit certain digital tools for younger students.

The concern is simple: more devices did not automatically mean better reading, writing or focus.

Karolinska Institutet, Sweden’s leading medical university, has warned that digital tools can impair rather than enhance student learning when they replace proven classroom basics. Research cited in the wider debate has also found that many students understand and remember longer texts better on paper than on screens.

There is still a place for laptops, tablets and online resources, especially for older students, accessibility needs and research. But these countries are drawing a clearer line between useful technology and constant distraction.

For a generation raised with notifications, scrolling and instant search, the old classroom tools suddenly look very modern again: a book, a pen, a quiet desk and enough time to concentrate.

If some of the world’s most digital countries are pulling back on screens in school, should US schools do the same?
