Faint wear to corners and edges, light surface wear from handling. Protected in archival mylar. Book is tight, square and firm. Top stain bright. Page edges faintly toned, still mostly vibrant. Interior clean and unmarked. Pre-publication pamphlet issued by the publisher in the Summer of 1962. Reportedly only 100 copies were produced for advance distribution. Very Good in stapled wrappers. Features an essay written by Terry Southern & E. S. Seldon, a blurb by Jack Kerouac and an excerpt from the novel. Uncommon. ; 5 1/2” X 8”; 14 pages.

First edition, 1st printing. 8vo. 51 pp. Limited edition of 150 copies signed by the author and the illustrator, Ralph Steadman. However, this particular copy is not numbered deliberately, and according to the binder was 1-of-3 proof copies. Half black vinyl cloth over illustrated boards, spine title in a strip of black leather with gilding, text with illustrations by Ralph Steadman throughout. Complete, issued without a dust jacket. An unread, firm and stiff copy. Scarce. Especially so considering it’s “unnumbered” designation. Other proof copies were numbered “A/P”. A beautiful copy.

Faint edge wear, mild crease to inside left flap, else very fine. Book is tight, square and firm. Signed and dated “May 29, 1993” by the author in black pen on the half-title page. This is the earliest signed date I have seen on this title. Interior is clean and unmarked. A beautiful copy.

Bergrun pioneered the methodology of thermal ice prevention design. He is credited with roll-stability laws for airplanes and missiles. At Lockheed Missiles and Space Company, Bergrun was manager of test planning and analysis for the Polaris Underwater Launch Missile System and evaluated satellite system applications. Bergrun appears on the wall of Honor Level as “Air and Space Friend” at the National Air and Space Museum.”
