Bookends Bookends is a general used book store in the Bowl-A-Roll Plaza on Jefferson Road near Winton Road, in Henrietta. I neither buy nor sell textbooks.

While we try to keep a wide range of fiction on hand, from classics old and new, through mystery, romance, horror and sci-fi/fantasy, we also maintain a large variety of non-fiction and poetry. The history and art sections are probably the most extensive of any independent bookstore in Monroe County. Bookends does not buy or sell textbooks.

Pretty much everything on sale now; figure about 20% off more or less (prices will be left at round dollars or half-dollars, so 20% won't fit all). Books etc that I hadn't priced before (often recognizable by prices 1- or 2- and by handwriting not my own) will be priced and discounted on the spot.

Curious that it's Hallowe'en Weekend.

I'll have to close the store before 3:15 tomorrow afternoon (Friday 10/23) for another Dr appointment. Sorry, but for the moment, if he calls, I go.

Though I feel much better today than I did just a week ago, I am still very weak-- how weak, I truly don't know. I may have to close the store early some days; I will have extra MD appointments-- I cannot predict my work schedule as most people-- even at my age-- can.

Please bear with me. I apologize now for moments when I simply cannot do things that I truly want to be able to do.

I suppose that's just life, though it's hard to reconcile with the idea that I've been so healthy for so long.

I am feeling MUCH better. I was made weak, apparently, from significant medication changes, not from any illness or such; I am eating pretty normally again and expect to start regaining weight and strength soon-- I am not in any danger, nor would I endanger anyone by presenting myself in ill health before the public, even as far as going to the grocery store. At that level, I am as healthy as I was at the moment that I turned 79 or, to the beset of my memory, 14.

I will take these next few days to do things I haven't been able to do since my hospitalization and other personal necessaries. I don't expect to be strong on Tuesday, but I expect to see small steps of progress. I'm old. It'll take a month or 3.

Bookends will be closed on Thursday 10/8 and probably on Friday 10/9. The better news? They have found at least one of the causes of my problems.

Oops, I did another blunder.

I'll be at the store on Saturday. "Or Sunday" makes it sound like I might not be there on Saturday. I will be there on Saturday (see aboe). I added "On Sunday" to suggest that it's ok if you can't make it in on Saturday.

That might be clear. I expect to be there both days.
