Finished up a name train today. Six more to go

So the vanity is painted and the drawers are built. These are dovetailed drawers with soft close under mount slides. The last step is to mount the drawer fronts and adjust the doors and get everything straight and level.

I accomplished quite a bit today in the shop. I started working on the table base and finished up all the joinery and cut and fit the center posts. One more day of edge profiles and sanding and I can glue them up. After that I sanded all the doors and cabinets that I primed yesterday and got the first coat of color on. Tomorrow they will get another coat and I’ll build the drawers. After that I still found enough time to make a couple of butter spreaders to match the teak cutting boards that were ordered last weekend at lake lure. I still need to make one more set. Hopefully I’ll get that done tomorrow too.

I didn’t quite get finished with this side today. As I was getting ready to get started installing more siding I noticed a gap about 10 rows back. The wood had moved a little bit since the last time I worked on the caboose. I couldn’t leave it that way so unscrewed all ten rows and tightened everything up again and I was ready to move on. There’s only 11 rows left on this side so one more day will get it. After that I’ll go back and install the last window and trim them all out. I’ll also trim up the bottom and then Edward can prime and paint everything in the next few weeks.

Well it was back to work in the shop today. I got started working on the table bases. I took another piece of cherry and milled it into some more beautiful parts. I still have to mill and fit the center beam. After that everything gets some edge profiles and sanded. Then I’ll be ready to assemble them. I also cooked up some more of my oil and beeswax finish today. I applied it to these cutting boards and mini airplanes. The airplanes will go to Sweet Magnolias for sale. Tomorrow I’m headed over to Ellenboro to work on the caboose.

A little change of direction on the bathroom vanity. It’s going to get painted instead of stained. I spent the day today sanding everything and getting the first coat of primer on. After that I had just enough time to cut another name train today. Four more to go.

I had a lot of people asking about Penny last weekend when we were at Lake Lure. Well, here she is. She is doing fine. Her and Ellie are getting along now. Most of the time they chase each other from one end of the house to the other.

Well we are about recovered from an amazing weekend at lake lure. This was definitely one of the best events we have participated in. Thanks again to all those that stopped by and spoke with us. Today we set up our booth at Sweet Magnolias vendor market with the few pieces we had left. It will take me a few weeks to build some more pieces, but I’ll have a much better selection soon. I also got two of the orders from this weekend’s event built as well. I just need to put the finish on them. I have another 8 orders to get completed. I’m also finishing up the bathroom vanity project and the table base. My current plan is to get these both completed before starting another large project which will be the live edge bookcase and credenza, two album cabinets, a nightstand, and some custom built ins. It’s about to be busy in the shop!
