Hey Tucson friends! Mark your calendars! Grab your mom's wallet and tell your friends! Saturday Oct 17th from 8am to 1pm. Here's a teaser for you vinyl nerds
In conjunction with the Armory Park Community, there will be multiple yard sales in the neighborhood, including one in our carport on 16th St. Maybe you want to feed your punk rock vinyl addiction or are nostalgic for a t-shirt or CD that we used to sell at Toxic Ranch Records? Maybe you've been meaning to pick up Wanderlust and Welcome Mats, the sequel to the Toxic Shock Assassin of Mediocrity book? Get up early and beat the crowd! Things here are priced to move. T-shirts are only $15 each or any two for $25! Wanderlust book is on sale at $10!

We'll also have some random items like power tools, kitchen wares, cassette tapes, electronics.

It's bound to be busy with over a dozen yard sales happening at once. Don't sleep in, set your alarm clocks. You snooze, you lose!

Toronto! Arrived into the massive Union Station from Montreal on Via Rail Canada and then we were met at our hotel by Derek who gave us a lovely walking tour of the sights, sounds and smells of Chinatown and Kensington Gardens on the way to the record store Emissions. Signed some books, heard some folk lore and had a good time!

Thanks to the gang at Sonik Records for their hospitality once again. Hopefully it was the bike race and not my body odor that kept the customers away. Tonight, the Subhumans are playing at Les Foufounes. Whoopee!

Just got in the mail, "My War on Wilshire" a little hardcover photo book from Bazillion Points. This was a surreal sunny day, July 4th 1983, when punk and hippie politics mixed it up. Similar to the Easter Front in Berkeley a couple years earlier, this was a rare outdoor daytime concert. What made it even more bizarre was that it was billed as a "Smoke In" rally in front of the Federal Building, home to the FBI/IRS. This was long before ma*****na was legalized and events like these led to its eventual incorporation into mainstream culture. My band Peace Co**se was invited to open the days festivities, followed by the 100th Monkey, Bad Actor, Wurm and Black Flag. In between bands, there were people speaking out for decriminalization of the evil w**d. Of course most of the book focuses on the tres-photogenic Henry Rollins but I was glad to see they used my flyer and printed my two-cents worth on the day. I was a little disappointed there were no photos of Peace Co**se or 100th Monkey from that day. My friend Stephen Jay Morris was that band's singer and one of the main organizers of the event. I have seen photos of Steve singing "Rise Above" with Henry. After all, if it weren't for Steve, Black Flag wouldn't have been invited to play. He made the phone call. Oh well, it's still a cool time capsule.

After my visit to Milwaukee and chatting with Dan with Die Kreuzen /the Crosses, I got to thinking about old cut n paste punk flyers and once I got back home, I went down a short rabbit hole. Here's some flyers I wanted to include in my book Toxic Shock Records Assassin of Mediocrity, but for whatever reason didn't quite make it. Enjoy. Who went to any of these shows?
