It’s Banned Book Week!

“Let Books Be. Protect the Freedom to Read.”

Books that explore issues of gender, and sexuality, race, magic, dark themes are often challenged. As booksellers we know not everyone wants to read the same books, but there is (and should be) a book for everyone. And we believe children should see themselves, and their families featured as main characters in books. Learn more at the link below.

"Although we had no money,
I was rich as I could be,
in my coat of many colors
my mama made for me."
-Dolly Parton
This sweet picture book about bullying and being proud of who you are and where you come from is based on Parton's famous song. It tells the true-to-life story of a young girl who needs a warm winter coat. What a sweet way to celebrate Dolly Parton Day: with a book.

September 22nd is the first day of Fall or Autumn, and one of our favorite books for this time of year is “A Big Mooncake for Little Star,” by Grace Lin. Mooncakes are a special treat at mid Autumn celebrations, and this story combines that tradition with a lesson on the phases of the moon. 🌖 💫
Happy Fall ya’all!
