Packing for Denver is never as simple as it sounds. There are always more pieces we want to bring than we could possibly fit.

Here is Part Two of our Hardrock Summit preview, featuring a few more specimens currently being considered for the trip. Nothing is guaranteed until everything is packed, but there are some serious possibilities in this group.

Swipe through for a closer look. Each measurement shown represents the longest edge of the specimen.

Which one would you most want to see waiting for you at our booth?

See you in Denver.

For a long time, some of the best tourmalines in the world were coming out of Brazil. They had incredible color, but a lot of the great crystals really needed to be backlit to come alive.

Congo had produced tourmaline before, but when the extraordinary Rubaya material started reaching the market in the mid 2010s, and then major production came in 2017, it changed everything.

All of a sudden, we were seeing crystals with incredible color and saturation that still transmitted light in a way I had never really seen before. You could look straight down the C axis and actually see into the crystal.

That changed the standard for me.

It wasn’t just another great locality producing beautiful tourmalines. Rubaya showed us something different. It changed what I thought was possible with tourmaline and raised the bar for what I was looking for from that point forward.

And for me, it goes beyond just the minerals themselves. The stories I have from buying directly out of Congo, the people, the deals, the chase, and everything that came with getting these pieces is a huge part of what makes them so special to me.

That combination, the quality of the material and the history I have with it personally, is what makes these Congo tourmalines mean so much to me.

This is probably my favorite rhodo in my collection and one of my holy grail objects.

This Peruvian is just a monster piece. The luster, the clarity, the color, the termination, everything about it is there. In all of the Peruvian rhodochrosites I’ve owned throughout my career, this one completely resets the bar for how good these things can actually get. 💯❤️

With Denver coming up next weekend, the travel, and the workload ahead of us, this felt like the right time to revisit something we shared a few months ago and extend the conversation a little further.

The extended version goes deeper into what Will says it has really taken to work at this level for the last 20 years. The travel, the pressure, the sleepless nights, the deals that go nowhere, the money tied up in projects, and the amount of work behind the specimens everyone eventually sees.

But it is not only about how difficult the work can be. Will also talks about where he believes this industry can go, and how hard work, new ideas, and people continuing to push forward can help it grow in a positive direction.

People see the finished mineral. They rarely see everything that happened before it got there, or the bigger vision behind the work.

The full extended version is now live on YouTube. If you enjoyed the original video, go watch this one. There is more to the conversation that I felt was worth hearing.

Hardrock Summit 2026 is almost here, and I’ve been packing a LOT of rocks. 😬🔥🤦‍♂️ Swipe through for a small preview of what I’m bringing to Denver.

I’m bringing a really wide range this year, from very high level specimens to fun, unusual pieces that I simply love. More than anything, I’m excited to see everyone, catch up, talk rocks, and show you what I’ve been up to.

Come by and see us at Booth HS.210, Sept. 10 to 13.

See you in Denver. 💎🙌

For nearly two years, Will bought kilos of Congo material and invested millions into the chase. Through all of it, there was one crystal he was really searching for.

The oversized tourmaline shown on the second slide is an intentionally imagined visual of that crystal. Obviously, It is not a real specimen. It represents the size, color, and quality Will hoped might exist.

So why Congo?

At their best, Congo tourmalines can combine incredible color, clarity, luster, and dramatic color zoning in a way that completely changed the standard for what collectors thought was possible.

The specimens shown in the remaining slides are real Congo tourmalines Will owns or has owned.

Did the $10 million crystal ever appear?

The votes are in, and Congo tourmalines won. Appreciate you all getting involved… 🙌… So this is the collection we will be taking you inside next on YouTube.

Anyways, I spent nearly two years chasing Congo tourmalines, buying kilo after kilo of material, competing for the best crystals I could find, and putting millions of dollars into the hunt.

But there was always one thing I was really chasing… A flawless Congo tourmaline, roughly the size of a soda can, that I believed could be worth $10 million… Did it ever show up? 👀

These are just some of the crystals that came out of that chase. The full video and story are coming soon to YouTube.

We got a lot of great feedback on our 1st long form rhodochrosite YouTube video. If you haven’t watched it yet, go check it out. The link to our YouTube is in our bio.

Now we’re getting ready to open up and share another collection from Will for our next long form video, and we want you to decide which one.

Swipe through the stills, check out each collection, then vote in the poll.

Which collection do you want Will to take us through next?

Copper, fluorite, Chinese, or Congo collection?

08/21/2026

I’ve been wanting to dig around Will’s house and get deeper into his personal collection because honestly, he does not share most of this stuff with anyone.

Rhodochrosite has become one of the pinnacle species in mineral collecting. Even people who do not collect minerals seem to be pulled in by the color.

Will does not always agree with the logic behind what certain pieces are worth. He tells me time and time again: “Do not chase price, chase perfection. Focus on perfection and the value follows.”

Will told me that he never really collected Sweet Home rhodochrosite until he knew the mine was going to close permanently. Once it did, he went on a marathon to track down every piece he wanted to own.

This Reel flies through 11 of those specimens, but the full YouTube video is where you get to slow down, hear the stories, and understand why each one made it into his collection.

This was a really fun one to make, and we are just starting to open the door. The full video is live now on YouTube. Link in bio. More collections like this are coming over the next few weeks.

I had the opportunity to sit Will down and have him walk me through part of his rhodochrosite collection, and honestly, some of these pieces are breathtaking. ❤️

What I love just as much as seeing the minerals are hearing the stories behind them, why Will chose certain pieces, what he looks for, and what makes something truly special to him after all these years.

I also don’t think people fully understand how many unreal minerals Will has tucked away. It is literally flat after flat of insane material, and it still blows my mind that I probably haven’t even seen a quarter of what he has locked away. Even crazier, we have filmed only a tiny fraction of that. It feels like we are just starting to open the door on what is actually there.

We also filmed a few of his other suites and collections, so there is a lot more coming.

I’m really excited to start sharing some longer form videos on our YouTube. It gives us the chance to slow things down and actually spend some time with these specimens, hear the stories, learn a little more about them, and show details that are almost impossible to fit into a short post.

We’ll still be sharing plenty of shorter content from these videos here on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and RedNote too.

I feel really lucky to get the opportunity to capture this stuff and share a little more of what I get to see behind the scenes.

First up, rhodochrosite. ❤️
