GoUAV was proud to exhibit at last week’s Gallagher African Fencing Conference, held at Shikwari Lodge in Limpopo.

As a global leader in game farm, wildlife and agricultural fencing systems, Gallagher understands that an effective fence is far more than a physical barrier. It is an intelligent perimeter that can detect and report events as they happen.

We demonstrated how the DJI Dock 3 can complement this technology by acting as an autonomous aerial first responder.

When a Gallagher fence detection system identifies an event, the DJI Dock 3 can be integrated to dispatch a drone to the relevant section of the perimeter. Using live high-resolution and thermal imagery, the drone can help operators quickly determine whether they are dealing with an intruder, an animal, damaged fencing or a false alarm.

The same system can also conduct scheduled fence-line patrols, monitor remote areas day and night, track developing incidents and guide ground teams directly to the correct location.

For game farms and wildlife reserves covering large and often difficult terrain, this combination provides faster verification, improved situational awareness and a safer, more efficient response.

What a fantastic two days at the Eskom Security Professionals Conference and Technology Expo at the Eskom Academy of Learning in Midrand!

GoThermal and GoUAV had the opportunity to demonstrate a wide range of technologies designed to protect substations, power stations, underground copper cables and other critical electrical infrastructure.

Our stand featured FLIR thermal security and early fire detection systems, GUIDE Sensmart handheld thermal monoculars and binoculars, AGM helmet-mounted night vision systems, our buried fibre-optic intrusion detection solution, the DJI Dock 3 and the impressive DJI Matrice 400 with its advanced payload options.

A major focus was showing how these technologies can work together. Our buried fibre sensing system can detect digging or interference along an underground cable route and integrate with the DJI Dock 3 to launch a drone for rapid aerial verification and live situational awareness.

Thank you to Eskom Group Investigation and Security for hosting such a valuable event, and to everyone who visited our stand, viewed the demonstrations and spent time discussing the real security challenges facing South Africa’s electrical infrastructure.

Part 6 of our DJI Geospatial Mining Solutions series is now live, and it brings our journey through the mining lifecycle to its conclusion: Mine Reclamation & Environmental Monitoring.

Over the past five parts, we’ve looked at how drone technology can support *exploration, drill and blast, load and transport, operations management and safety monitoring*.

But the role of geospatial data does not end when extraction stops.

Mine rehabilitation can continue for years, with slopes settling, drainage changing, erosion developing and vegetation gradually becoming established across disturbed areas.

DJI Enterprise drones can help mining and environmental teams build a repeatable record of how these areas change over time, supporting:

- Baseline surveys before rehabilitation
- Terrain and rehabilitation mapping
- Drainage and erosion monitoring
- Ponding and surface-change identification
- Before-and-after comparisons
- Monitoring of visible vegetation establishment
- 3D terrain modelling
- Safer inspection of difficult terrain
- Long-term documentation of rehabilitation progress

By repeatedly surveying the same areas, teams can move beyond isolated photographs and create a much clearer digital history of the rehabilitation process.

Drone technology does not replace environmental specialists or professional ground assessments. It provides an additional layer of current, measurable information to help those teams focus their investigations and verify change over time.

Part 5 of our DJI Geospatial Mining Solutions series is now live: Safety Monitoring.

Following our previous posts on Exploration & Construction, Drill & Blast, Load & Transport, and Operations Management, we now look at how drones can support safer visibility across changing and difficult-to-access areas of a mine.

Mining conditions can change quickly after blasting, excavation, heavy rainfall, erosion or ongoing production activity.

DJI Enterprise drones can help authorised teams monitor areas such as:

- High walls and slopes
- Benches and berms
- Haul roads and access routes
- Blast areas
- Drainage and erosion zones
- Restricted or difficult terrain
- Areas affected by weather or maintenance

Repeatable drone surveys can also help teams compare site conditions over time, document visible changes and decide where closer ground inspection may be required.

For areas requiring more frequent visibility, DJI Dock 3 and DJI FlightHub 2 can support scheduled missions across predefined locations, while DJI Terra can process captured data into maps, point clouds and 3D terrain models.

The goal is not to replace professional safety or geotechnical assessment, but to give mine teams better information while reducing unnecessary exposure during initial site observation.
