STAFF TRAINING — RAISING THE STANDARD ACROSS THE WHOLE TEAM

At Gardner’s Guns, it’s vital that the knowledge and training we deliver doesn’t sit with just one person.

If we’re going to offer a proper long-range training programme, then every member of staff involved needs to understand the fundamentals, understand the equipment, and be capable of delivering the same standard of instruction.

That means safe r***e handling, correct shooting position, windage and elevation, optics, range procedures, confidence at distance, and understanding the equipment we use — including our Victrix r***es and Leica optics.

Today is about making sure Dave has that knowledge, experience and confidence himself, so that when he’s working with customers and members, he can reinforce exactly the same principles we teach across the rest of the programme.

The aim is simple: consistent training, consistent standards, whoever you’re working with.

The long-term goal is to build a staff team that can all support the training pathway properly — not just rely on me to deliver everything.

That’s how we keep improving the standard of what we offer.

Had a cracking day on the range today putting our Sport Optics ballistic binoculars through their paces. We stretched them out to a mile with the .300 PRC, and the data was spot on. The wind was pretty blustery and all over the place today, so if the wind calls weren’t quite right, that was on us, certainly not the binos. A seriously good bit of kit - they’ve been absolutely fantastic. Massive thanks again to Leica and Simon. And keep your eyes peeled… We’re hearing there could be an exciting new Leica model on the way. If we get hands on, we’ll let you know exactly what we think. ***e

Tier 1 — Performance, consistency, impact. This is the highest level of the Pathway, and it’s not something you earn just by completing a set number of days. Tier 1 is earned. Demonstrate competence, consistency, and sound judgment, applying everything from Tiers 3 and 2. Capable, confident, and consistent, setting the standard for others. GARDNER’S GUNS PATHWAY - TIER 2 ADVANCED.” “Following on from Tier 3 Foundation, the next stage of the Gardner’s Guns pathway is Tier 2 Advanced. Tier3 is about laying the foundations, and Tier 2 is where we build on them and push both the shooter and the understanding further.” “At this stage, we focus on developing a much deeper understanding of long-range shooting, reading conditions and making wind calls, applying ballistic data, refining technique and consistency, adjusting for elevation at increasing distances, understanding am******on performance, moving from factory to home-loaded am******on where appropriate, and progressing out to distances up to a mile.” “At Tier2, it’s not just about hitting the target; it’s about why you hit it, what the wind was doing, what adjustment you made, and whether you can repeat it. As with the whole pathway, progression is based on competence and demonstrated ability, not simply attendance. The Tier 2 badge has to be earned. For those who have already completed advanced training with us, the work and experience you’ve built counts as we introduce the new system. GARDNER’S GUNS PATHWAY, TIER3 FOUNDATION. We’re introducing the Gardner’s Guns pathway, starting with Tier 3, Foundation. The pathway is a structured training route designed to build the right skills from the ground up. It isn’t about simply counting days on the range, it’s about real knowledge, ability, safety, and confidence. 🔵 Tier 3 is where it begins. Safe handling and range procedures, core shooting skills and technique, point of aim and point of impact, windage and elevation, and building confidence at increasing distances. Small groups, clear milestones. As your skills and understanding deepen, you move through to Tier 2 Advanced and ultimately Tier 1 Elite.” “🏅 The badges are earned, not given for attendance.” “If you’ve already trained with us, the work you’ve done counts.
