Upgrading your brakes will make you faster.

Sounds counterintuitive, but it’s true. Brake later, carry more speed, brake again. Pads and discs are the easy win. Fluid and lines are the sensible next step. Big brake kits? That’s when unsprung weight comes into play.

A Jaguar XJS. Slammed. On Pininfarina two-piece BBS wheels. With a straight-six on six Mikuni R1 carbs.

Let that sink in for a second.

Centimetres from the floor. Black paint, chrome trim, yellow accents - a proper 80/90s mega sled with an attitude problem. Under that impossibly long bonnet, an AJ16 4.0 straight-six (one of Jaguar's finest) gulps air through six Mikuni R1 bike carbs, fed by a custom aluminium air box and a Ramair cone filter.

Inside, Recaro fishnets (Suzuki Ignis Sport leftovers, we think), Sabelt harnesses, an OMP wheel, and motorsport switchgear. It's a cabin that means business.

It shouldn't work. But it absolutely does.

This is why we love Supercharged Cars and Coffee. Builds like this, owners who dare, and a crowd that gets it.

Getting your car ready for the 24th June? We're trackside with MSVT at Oulton Park, so here's three tyre options that won't break the bank.

Nankang NS-2R – The budget-friendly semi-slick. Predictable grip, firm sidewall, and designed for mixed street/track use. Not the ultimate lap time tyre, but for the money? Unbeatable.

Yokohama AD09 – Sharp steering, serious dry grip, and surprisingly capable in the wet for a 200TW tyre. One online review from a Porsche owner called it "better in the wet and cold than the more expensive OEM tyres". And it wears like iron.

Look, the SF90 XX Hyper car isn't really our usual world. Showroom fresh. Carbon wheels. 1,030hp. And honestly? Hyper cars usually spend their lives in collections, not under load.

But that's what makes this one interesting. It actually turned up to a Supercar Driver event at our HQ. And it got us thinking… What if someone actually modified one?

Turns out, Novitec already did. Lowered it. New wheels. A proper exhaust. And proved that even a £770k "road-legal race car" can be improved.

So if you've got an SF90 XX gathering dust and a desire to be public enemy number one in Maranello… we know a guy with a spanner.

Alright, we're stumped. And we're okay with that.

This Pontiac Tempest Le Mans (early '60s, we think) rolled into our last Supercharged Cars and Coffee and we've been scratching our heads ever since.

Custom rear arches. Coilover towers out back. Big-diameter billet wheels giving off serious Australian custom vibes. Under the bonnet? We spotted an MSD, a wide-belt drive, and a tasty fuel pressure regulator and fittings. Beyond that... your guess is as good as ours.

First time we've seen a Tempest Le Mans. That's why we love this event.
