These spooky little knick-knacks keep mysteriously appearing in the bike shop. Could it be mystical forces at work? Or is it just Carl stopping at the free-box down the street on his daily commute? Who’s to say?

Who’s behind the Flash Tattoo Fundraiser designs? Lore Crymore, ( .tattoo ), is a local artist and friend of the bike shop. In 2013 she moved to Portland from Indiana, and has been here ever since! An early interest in American traditional tattooing paired with her own uniquely strange and dark illustration style, plus a decade of finding inspiration in daily life, has led to the current creations you see today. “I work in heavy contrast. Finding my home in both the clean and crisp but also the worn down and lived-in.”

Lore is also a regular customer of the bike shop! Having spent many hours working on bike projects in the DIY Workspace, this was a natural collaboration that we couldn’t be more excited about.

There’s still one week left to enter the Flash Tattoo Giveaway and support the Community Cycling Center’s efforts of broadening access to bikes. If we raise another $250 today we’ll be able to connect one more community member with a bike, helmet, and resources needed to ride!

We have not just one, but TWO Bike Friday folding bikes, fully serviced and ready to ride!

If you know you know– these bikes are expertly made just a couple hours away in Eugene, Oregon! If you’re looking for a high-quality folding bike, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better deal. For many, the start of the school year means changing routines, cooler weather, and the end of long, meandering, carefree days. But the start of the school year is also the beginning of Bike Club! During this Fall semester the Community Cycling Center will be leading afterschool bike programming at five different elementary schools in North and Northeast Portland!

Growing from their success last year, we’re offering a couple of Learn-to-ride Clubs for younger kids as well. While our classic Afterschool Bike Clubs focus on road safety, riding in a group, and navigating by-bike, our Learn-to-ride clubs provide the space and guidance needed for students who don’t know how to ride yet. One of the greatest benefits of offering both of these programs within specific neighborhoods is that students who attend a Learn-to-ride Club will be able to continue their riding by attending a future Afterschool Bike Club.
